7月4日 Ronaldinho, July 4th 2006I just finished watching the match between Germany and Argentina.
A hard game.
I was sad to see my friend Messi get eliminated, but that’s the type of game where either side has a good chance of winning.
Yesterday, I talked a lot with my family through MSNs and by telephone. My mother, my sister Deisi and my nephew Diego already have flight tickets to Germany for Sunday. If we beat France, and I hope so, my whole family will be here for the final game. You bet it’s a great incentive. I really miss them.
My brother Roberto has been here since the cup started. He’s writing a column and a blog for Porto Alegre’s Zero Hora newspaper. He’s always calling me up for information. Yesterday, he told me everybody’s worried I haven’t scored yet. I swear that it doesn’t bother me the slightest bit. Of course I want to score, but what really matters is for the team to win, regardless of whether I score or not. I’m playing a different role, more in the midfield and I know this position is tactically important for the team.
And I’m not mad at Cafu when in the last game he could have passed the ball to me in the goal area. Hehehe... he did what he thought was best. Too bad he didn’t score.
Today we practiced in the Frankfurt stadium, where we’ll be playing on Saturday. It’s a great field. The atmosphere couldn’t be better. Everybody is relaxed. We’re happy, but we haven’t forgotten our mission.
We’ll give France everything we’ve got and, God willing, we’ll win and claim a spot in the semi-finals.
